What are some real good Italian Restaurants in Houston, TX besides Olive Garden and Carrabas?

Try checking the websites.

You can get some real good reviews there. What are some real good Italian Restaurants in Houston, TX besides Olive Garden and Carrabas?
Neither Olive Garden nor Carrabas are that good. They're edible massmarket fare, kinda like any restaurant run by Tillman Fertitta.

Try the b4-u-eat web site ( http://www.b4-u-eat.com ) for a list (and reviews) of Italian restaurants.

My personal favorite, however, is Carmelo's on Memorial, in between Dairy Ashford and Eldridge. What are some real good Italian Restaurants in Houston, TX besides Olive Garden and Carrabas?
for a nothing fancy, home made food .......you must try Doyles.

Its been in Houston for years! Its located on 34th street.

Extremely reasonable, casual or nice attire, the best home cooked Italian food ever!
Like William K I think Carmelo's has wonderful food. It also has a great romantic atmosphere.

Also, try Frenchy's (yes, it's Italian) near Nasa.

Johnny Carino's Italian Grill is amazing!! Unlimited fresh bread and salads. The salads that come with an entree are terrific! There is a choice of House (with any dressing) and Caesar. Both were just amazing. My favorite item is the Bowtie Festival.

There are a lot of them.

A friend of mine who is Italian and in the restaurant business here said that DaMarco (on Westheimer near Mandell) is the best Italian place in the city.

Also inside the loop on Westheimer you will find Sorrento which is a little grander. And Dolce Vita which is a trattoria/oenoteca. Both are near Taft.

Simposio has great food. They just moved to a new space on Westheimer just west of Dunvale.

Osteria Antica (or is it Antica Osteria) is on Bissonnet and Shepherd. They have an intimate dining room and a beautiful deck. Only open for dinner.

Some people really like Prego, in Rice Village, just off Kirby. I think it is a little bit boring.

That should get you started. If you want some more ideas, just let me know!

Buca Di Beppo, very good :)
I love Collina's. They have good food, but i don't know what your price range is so i can't tell you if it's affordable. Most of their dishes approach the 10's and 20's. Good luck!
