Are Italians familiar with American Italian chain restaurants?

Where they serve buttery garlic bread, high fat salads saturated in Italian dressing,

Greasy pasta alfredo with Italian sausage and massive portion

Brick oven pizzas, lasagna, ravioli, like really saturated fatty stuff

Fried dough, cannoli

And one of these restaurants we have in USA is called. 'Olive Garden' and they have very buttery foods and advertise, "when you're here, you're family" in a heavy New York mafia accent

Another is Carrabas Italian Grille, and RomanosAre Italians familiar with American Italian chain restaurants?
Pasta Alfredo is actually an american dish.

Actually I've found american portions much larger than italian ones, when I'm in the States I often ask for take-away bags at the end of my meal.

None of these food chains is popular among italians, the only Olive Garden restaurant I've tried was inside a non-italian airport.

Italian food is not greasy, american food is, come over here and you'll taste the (huge) difference. Are Italians familiar with American Italian chain restaurants?
yes they are, but most of the more popular chains, not so much the Italian based restaurants..they would say that those aren't authentic enough...and the that is very true because when the Italians come to America they change of up the recipes to accommodate the American taste buds, so it takes away from the authenticity of their foods.
Well, I know Pizza Hut which makes indecent, unforgivable pizzas.
Never heard about any other chains/restaurants you mentioned.
I keep hearing about "italian dressing" for salads and stuff, but that's definitely an american invention: the one and only italian dressing is a little bit of olive oil and vinegar.
Apparently most Italian things in USA are fake. Are Italians familiar with American Italian chain restaurants?
There is a HUGE difference between American food and Italian food. American food is greasy and all fat. Italian food is delicious-- come to Italy and you taste the difference! And no, I haven't heard of those chain restaurants.

What Americans try to pass off as Italian food is disgusting.
The products in Italy are not fat!

The cuisine of Tuscany (in Italian) is the best in the world. Are Italians familiar with American Italian chain restaurants?
It shows that you never visited our country. ANd for your information, the restaurants you call, italian, in america... have just the name.....

Happy travels, and rediscovering!
I'm from Italy, and I'm sorry, but the real italian food is only in Italy. Try it! I went to lots of italian restaurants in other country, but it's very suck!

(;
... Lol @ Olive Garden. No, my friend hadn't heard of them until he moved here, and he was very unsatisfied.
