When and where were the horoscope symbols assigned for each of the zodiac signs in western astrology?

such as the Scorpion, the Goat..etc..where these were created and who assigned them and when?



please explain what you can too ..how Hindu astrology is? and how different "Vedic" astrology" is and what about China? how they got such a strange symbolism compared to western astrology? (As their animals dont really fit the descriptions of the signs in western astrology really do they?)

We are told that the Western Zodiac originated in Babylon and among the Chaldees, however to be honest, I don't quite see the connection with Greek imagery. However the Wikipedia has a decent article on this.
